After two years of anticipation, Denargo Market welcomed visitors with a block party in RiNo’s arts district. The new community space features lawns, public seating, a playful thirty foot climbable rhino sculpture, and design meant to engage neighbors and families. Festivities included local bands, food trucks, and pop up vendors that gave the event a welcoming and inclusive feel. The development is planned as much more than a park. Over time, it will grow into a seventeen acre mini city with homes, retail shops, office space, and hospitality offerings. The project is expected to shift the feel of this once industrial zone and create a new identity for the neighborhood. One nearby resident said they had watched the construction from their apartment window and now enjoy having something vibrant and inviting within walking distance. Denargo Market also ties into the city’s past. The site once housed Denver’s primary food mart which burned down in 1971. Developers now hope to restore that sense of a central gathering place while building a community destination that is active year round.
